Simon Poole

President

Originally from Brisbane and educated in Brisbane and Canberra, Simon is an Australian Titled Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist and Director of Movement Improvement Rockhampton. He also is engaged by the Queensland Academy of Sport on a consultant basis for the Swimming program as well as being involved with the Australian Junior Swimming Team.

Simon loves a challenge. As such, he is particularly interested in complex cases. This interest includes paediatric patients from 6 weeks of age, longstanding pain and sports performance physiotherapy. Educating the up-and-coming physiotherapists is also a privilege that he holds dear.

Danya Hodgetts

Danya Hodgetts is a Sport Management consultant, educator and researcher. Over her career, she has been worked within all sections of sporting pathway, as well as physical activity initiatives targeting the broader community. As a Partner of Dangerous Minds Consulting, she has worked with Sport Australia and numerous national sport organisations to develop and improve sport.

Danya is a Legacy Committee Member for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and is determined to deliver outcomes for all communities in Queensland, with a focus on regional areas. Danya is passionate about sport and its ability to generate social, real change. Danya patrolling member of Emu Park Surf Life Saving Club, Vice President of Rocky City Swimming Club and Surfing Mums Australia.

Anetta is an experienced senior research officer and project manager, working in physical activity research program delivery and evaluation at CQUniversity since 2004. Anetta values working within a team who strive to bring together research, evaluation and the latest evidence with real world program application to innovate and achieve impactful outcomes.

Anetta believes in collaboration and partnering with stakeholders from across sport, industry, programs and communities to deliver the programs she works on, and is a relentless advocate for improving systems and environments that support people to be active in everyday.

Tom Doering

Committee Member

Tom is an Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) Accredited Exercise Physiologist and Sports Scientist, with experience working with developing and elite athletes across a variety of sports. Tom started his career in sport as a strength and conditioning coach before moving to CQ in 2013 to complete his PhD. His doctoral research focussed on masters triathletes and post-exercise nutrition to facilitate recovery and adaptation to training. In recent years, Tom’s sports-related research has focused on rugby league, working across multiple playing levels to enhance performance. 

Working at CQUniversity for over 10 years, Associate Professor Tom has lectured in, and led the Health Sciences degree, and is a Senior Research Fellow in the Indigenous Engagement Student Success team. Passionate about grassroots sports, Tom enjoys working hands-on with athletes and coaches in the region, providing training and education to help them perform at their best.
